An important part of bully prevention is having a plan of action when faced with a bullying situation. Oakwood’s school wide plan is C.A.S.T.
C = stay CALM and CONFIDENT.
A = move AWAY from the bully.
S = Tell them to STOP!
T = If they don’t stop, TELL an adult.
If someone is being a bully to you or someone else, remember to C.A.S.T. the bully away!
Another important part of bully prevention is in the action of the bystanders. The Bully Blockers Club at Oakwood consists of students who are committed to stopping bullying by having the courage to stand-up for what’s right, help those in need and report bullying behavior.
Ask your students about C.A.S.T. and the Bully Blockers Club and encourage them to be active in bully prevention. For more information on bully prevention or to report bullying, please contact the school.
